I received one of these candles as a gift and was burning it in my bathroom and one of my guests came in and asked me about the candle. It smells so delicious just like a Christmas tree, but better. Burns amazing! It prompted me to look up the company to give the information to her. And then I ordered more. When I got my order, I was so impressed with the presentation of the order and the samples that they sent with it. This company is detail oriented and very impressive. Thank you guys for blowing my socks off!

At the top of my son's Christmas List was "A Mr. Douglas Candle so it smells like Christmas!"...It arrived and tucked inside was a lovely matchbook and a darling "making a list and checking it twice" notepad! This company always goes above and beyond to add a special touch!!

My favorite Christmas candle. 

I love a good pine scent that doesn’t smell too fake or too overbearing. This is absolutely that! It’s my favorite to burn throughout the holidays, but I find this to be so fresh and clean that I also burn in throughout the rest of the year!

After smelling Little Branch at a friend’s home, I investigated the source….
Four + years ago and counting I am enthralled by these candles, and am interested in no other.
The scents are beautiful….and memorable as well as memory making. Each candle is unique and one can easily conjure a proper personalized setting. We’ve moved from the beach to the forest, and Mr Douglas has been a constant. This candle is a gift. Hardly anyone comes to,our home without asking how we’ve managed having the pines abide with us so subtly and evocatively.

Danielle and her team at Backhouse Fragrances are amazing people and so enjoyable to work with. I ordered with them in the past for client holiday gifts and with little to no notice, they shipped everything out and my clients received their beautiful candle gifts in stunning packaging for the holidays. This year I was a little more organized and gave the Backhouse team a little notice. They have gone above and beyond to work with my logo in personalizing the packaging, giving me options, and photos of their ideas, insuring I was pleased with the presentation. Easy to work with, affordable, unique, quality, fun, and beautiful. I would recommend working with this company, you will be pleased and so will the recipients of these beautiful candles.

As a side note, I love to support small businesses. Mr. Douglas is my favorite holiday candle! However, they have many tasteful subtle fragrances to choose from and you will not be disappointed.

A couple of years ago, I received Mr. Douglas as a hostess gift. It was the first time I learned of Backhouse. First, I was impressed by the beautiful packaging, then I fell in LOVE when I lit Mr. Douglas! He has become my "Favorite" gift at holiday exchanges, and he is always included in the Backhouse gift boxes I send out. When I send the candle I just wait for that call telling me how beautiful the packaging is and how much the candle is loved! It never fails! Whether the holidays are upon us or it is simply a cold day, Mr. Douglas warms my home and makes it feel so cozy that I don't want to leave! The scent is beautiful without being overpowering. If I had a fake tree and lit the candle, one would think it's the tree giving off the scent. It's that good!

During the holiday, I discovered Backhouse Candles when ordering ribbon from Studio Carta. The owner highlighted the Backhouse in her IG stories. I ordered Mr. Douglas. It is amazing and as a candle lover, it is honestly the best candle I have ever bought. The scent of pine was perfect, it sits beautiful on my table and I love that it is made by a classy woman small business owner. I have the decision that all my personal and gift giving candles will now be Backhouse exclusively!

This scent is so good I needed to leave a review! I’m really picky when it comes to scents and am so in love with this candle. This candle is a gorgeous combination of hearty pine with a touch of sweetness and it will leave your home smelling incredible. If you love a holiday scent, I couldn’t recommend this more.

This is my go to Christmas candle. It’s SO good. Smells just like a Christmas tree but not overbearing. I feel like the fragrance lasts a long time too. It just makes me happy.

We have always been obsessed with Christmas scents. This candle smells SO good. It does have a Christmas scent but it isn't so overwhelming that you feel like you can only burn it at Christmas time. It is delicate and perfect to burn anytime you want. I have a few "Douglas" named family members so it really also makes for a great gift. The packaging when you order, also is just perfect.

LOVE!!! There’s no better adjective for this candle (or any of the other scents really)! Being from NYC and living in S.Florida I looooong for the scents and sounds of the northern holiday vibe. Mr Douglas takes me back to my childhood when we would all pile into the car, drive to the tree farm, and pick out the one to come home with us. The smell of pine filling the house was intoxicating for me, signifying Christmas was finally here!!
Even better, in my opinion, is that the scent is not over powering. It’s perfectly balanced and fills the room (28’x15’) beautifully. I also REALLY appreciate how steadily it burns. One of my pet peeves with some candles is when there’s a ton of wax buildup on the sides and cavernous in the middle, with a wick not long enough to accommodate the excess. It feels wasteful and looks unattractive. No issue with BH Candles!
Lastly, as a career brand manager, I ADORE the packaging of everything and love how it feels like a wonderful gift - be it for yourself or someone else. From the shipping box straight down to the crinkle paper, it’s all elegantly branded and perfectly (and enviro-friendly) packaged!
Turn around time from order to receipt is super quick and impressive! Oh! And may I suggest tossing in a set of matches to accompany your candle(s)?!? They’re equally as lovely and impressive as the candles themselves and a stellar opportunity to surprise and delight your recipient!!
