Burning your BIG BH:
- On your first use, burn your candle for 3-4 hours to allow the wax to melt evenly to the edge of the jar.
- Avoid burning in drafty areas. It is essential all 4 wicks are burning to achieve the most even burn for your candle.
- Trim wicks to 1/4 inch before re-lighting to avoid a large flame, smoking and wax discoloration.
Below are answers to your frequently asked questions.

Please reach out by sending an email to hello@backhousefragrances.com and we’ll respond with a personal email in 24-48 business hours.
Q: Why does my candle look separated from the glass?
A: Due to weather conditions, sometimes a slight slippage from the glass occurs. Your candle is not damaged and this issue will resolve while burning. During the drying process, depending on the room's temperature, the wax can pull away from the glass as it cools, creating this effect. However, once the candle is lit, it will go away as the glass heats up.
Q: Do you ship to Hawaii?
A: We do ship orders to Hawaii - however, we charge a flat rate of $10 for every order regardless of order value that is shipped to Hawaii due to higher shipping prices. Every order shipped to Hawaii will be shipped via USPS.
Q: How can I sample your scents before purchasing?
A: Yes! We would be happy to send you a sample pack of our candle + hand wash fragrances. Send us an email at hello@backhousefragrances.com with your name and address and we will ship you a sample pack!
Q: What can I do with my empty glass jar?
A: So many things! The easiest way to clean out the jar when you can't burn anymore is to freeze it for 24 hours - then any leftover wax should pop right out! We reccomend then cleaning it out before use. Some of our favorite ways to re-use our backhouse jars are for drinking glasses, holding cotton swabs + balls, storing pens + makeup tools, + so much more!!
Q: Why are my tea light samples missing a wick?
A: For safety and liability reasons, we have made the decision to no longer include wicks in our tea light samples. Due to their small size, we are unable to add warning labels, which can create significant liability concerns. These tea light samples are intended for scent testing only and are not meant to be burned. If you find a scent you enjoy and would like to try it in a full candle, we are happy to offer a refund if you're not completely satisfied with your purchase. We take pride in the quality of our products and are committed to ensuring your satisfaction, and hope that you find a scent you love to burn!
